How Customs Finder works

A quick guide to finding the carnet desk, sharing what you know, and getting the most out of the app.

Download the app

Customs Finder is free, works with no signal, and needs no account. Get it on iOS or Android.

Search for your airport or crossing

Type an airport name, city, IATA code (like LHR or JFK), port, rail terminal or border crossing. Results filter as you type. We cover 523 desks across 66 countries. Airports are split into Departures and Arrivals, so pick the side you are on. Not sure whether somewhere is covered? Browse every desk.

Read the intel

Each listing tells you where the customs carnet desk is, what to expect, opening hours if known, and any quirks the community has flagged.

Share what you find

If something has changed, tap Suggest updates at the top of the listing. If it still looks right, tap Confirm intel. Every submission is reviewed before it goes live.

What you can include in an update

Desk moved, hours changed, new steps?

Describe what is different: a new location, updated hours, a new queue system. Anything a colleague arriving next week would want to know.

Your current location

If you are standing at the desk right now, you can drop a GPS pin. The app reads your location only at that moment.

Photos

Photos of the desk, signage, or anything useful for orientation. Up to five photos per report.

A reply email

Optional. Add your email if you want us to follow up with a question. We do not use it for anything else.

Public kudos

Add a display name and an optional link (LinkedIn, company site) to get a public credit on the listing once your intel is approved. This appears as "Community intel from [your name]" on the listing detail page.

FAQs

Common questions

About Customs Finder

Does Customs Finder issue carnets?

No. Customs Finder finds the desk where your carnet gets stamped. Getting the carnet itself is a separate job, handled by an issuing chamber of commerce in your country. Our carnet issuer partners are a good place to start.

How accurate is this? Who checks it?

Every listing is reviewed by a person on our team before it goes live, and every listing shows when it was last updated so you can judge how fresh it is. But desks move, hours change and staff get reassigned without warning, which is exactly why the app exists, and why we would rather you treated a listing as very good intel from the last crew through than as an official source. If a listing is wrong, tell us from inside the app and the next crew gets the corrected version. See also our terms.

Is my airport covered?

Search it in the app, or browse the full list of desks on the site. If it is not there, you can suggest it. See What if a location is missing?.

Is it free? Will it stay free?

Yes, and yes. Customs Finder is a community based app: the intel in every listing is shared knowledge, contributed by crews for crews, so charging the community for its own contributions was never an option. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions, and none are planned. Access to the app and its location information will always be free, with running costs covered by sponsors who serve film and TV crews.

Do sponsors influence what's in the listings?

No. Sponsors cover our running costs so the app can stay free. They are clearly marked as sponsors wherever they appear, and paying us does not change what a listing says, or the order desks appear in. If that ever changes, this page will say so.

We issue carnets. Can we work with you?

Yes. We partner with carnet issuers so their holders can find the desk. Partners get a free co-branded handout for their carnet pack, a listing in the app under Carnet Issuers, and a presence on this site. Sponsorship is separate, and an issuer only appears among the sponsors if they take a sponsorship package. See how partnership works.

Using the app

Does it work offline?

Yes. The full catalog ships inside the app, so you can search and read listings with no signal at all. When you do have a connection, the app quietly checks for a fresher copy in the background. You will never be told to wait for the network.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no registration. You can use every part of the app, including confirming accuracy and reading listings, without providing any personal information.

Why are there two listings for the same airport?

Most airports are split into a Departures listing and an Arrivals listing, because the desk, hours, and walk-through are often different. Pick the side you are on. Land borders stay as a single listing. Ports are split only where the two sides really differ.

The desk is closed or there's nobody there. What now?

Listed hours are what the community last reported, not a guarantee, and they can change at short notice around public holidays. If you are stuck, use any phone number or after-hours note on the listing, and ask airport or airline staff who handles carnets. When you have got through it, please report what happened from the listing. That is the intel the next crew needs most.

Which devices does it run on, and do I need to update it?

Customs Finder runs on iOS and Android. You rarely need to update the app itself: fresh desk data is delivered separately and the app picks it up the next time it has a connection.

How does new data get added to the app?

Intel submissions from the community are reviewed by our small team before being added to a listing, usually within a few days. Once approved, the updated listing is published to our hosting and the app picks it up automatically the next time it connects. You do not need to update the app to get fresh data.

What if a location is missing?

Use the "Suggest a customs desk" option inside the app. It appears at the bottom of search once you have typed more than two letters. You can also email us at hello@customsfinder.com.

Something looks wrong with the app. What should I do?

Open Settings inside the app and tap "Report a bug". This opens a pre-filled email with your app version and catalog details already included, so we have what we need to investigate. You can also email us directly at hello@customsfinder.com.

How can I help?

How do I share intel about a desk?

Open the listing in the app and tap Suggest updates at the top of the page. You can send notes, a GPS pin, and photos. If the listing is still right, tap Confirm intel instead. Every submission is reviewed by a person before it goes live.

Can I sponsor Customs Finder?

Yes. Sponsorship is how the app stays free. Brands that serve film and TV crews can appear on listings and in the app directory. Paying us does not change what a listing says. Packages start from £100 a month. See sponsorship for how it works.

See sponsorship
Can I introduce a brand and earn something?

Yes. In the app, open Referrals from the ••• menu and share your intro code with a brand you know. If they quote it when they book sponsorship with us, you earn £20 when their first booking is paid. Referral terms apply.

Your data

Do you track my location?

No. The app never tracks you in the background. The only time it reads your location is the moment you choose to drop a GPS pin while submitting intel, and that pin is attached to the desk you are reporting on, not to you. The app does send a small number of anonymous usage events, such as listing opens and sponsor impressions, which are not tied to your movements. Full detail is in our privacy policy.

Is the "still accurate" tap anonymous?

Yes. Tapping it sends the listing ID and a random identifier generated when you install the app. The identifier is not linked to your name, email, or device account. It is used only to prevent the same install from confirming the same listing multiple times.

What happens to my intel submission?

Submissions go into our internal review queue. We check them, add or correct the listing if the information checks out, and then delete the submission. If you left a reply email, we may follow up with a question. We do not publish your email address.
