Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Customs Finder app and website. We have written them in plain English, because we would rather you actually read them.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

The short version

Customs Finder is a free directory of ATA Carnet customs offices at airports, ports, train stations, and land border crossings. Anyone moving equipment under a carnet is welcome to use it. It is a starting point, not an official source.

Customs procedures change constantly and without notice. Desks move, opening hours change, and officers apply rules differently. Always confirm the details with the customs authority, your carnet issuer, or your agent before you travel. We do our best to keep listings accurate, but we cannot promise they are, and we are not responsible for fines, delays, missed flights, or seized equipment if something on a listing turns out to be wrong or out of date.

If you spot something wrong, please tell us using "Suggest updates". That is how the whole thing stays useful.

Who we are

Customs Finder is operated by Customs Finder Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17372949), registered office Guillards Oak, Midhurst, W. Sussex.. You can reach us at hello@customsfinder.com.

Accepting these terms

By using the Customs Finder app or website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy also applies and explains how we handle information.

What Customs Finder is, and what it is not

Customs Finder is an independent directory compiled from public sources, published guidance, and reports from people in the industry. It is intended as a practical head start when you are planning a movement or standing in an unfamiliar terminal.

To be clear about what it is not:

  • It is not official. We are not a customs authority, a government body, a chamber of commerce, or a carnet issuer, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
  • It is not advice. Nothing in the app is customs, legal, tax, or shipping advice. It does not replace guidance from the relevant customs authority, your carnet issuing body, or your customs agent or broker.
  • It is not a guarantee of service. A listing does not mean a desk will be staffed, open, or willing to process your carnet when you arrive.

Accuracy, and why you must check

We put real effort into keeping listings accurate. Listings are researched, reviewed, and updated as we learn more, and we show a freshness signal so you can see when a listing was last confirmed by other users.

Even so, information can be wrong or go out of date at any time. Offices relocate, hours change seasonally, procedures are revised, and staff on the day may take a different view. Listings are provided "as is" and without any warranty that they are accurate, complete, current, or fit for your particular movement.

You remain responsible for verifying anything that matters before you rely on it. Where a listing includes an official phone number, website, or address, treat those as the authoritative route and check directly. Building in time to confirm details is part of doing this properly, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a certainty we cannot offer.

Your responsibilities when using the app

Please use Customs Finder sensibly and lawfully. In particular, do not:

  • Use it in any way that breaks the law, or to help anyone evade customs duties, taxes, or import and export controls.
  • Send us intel you know to be false, misleading, or intended to cause a problem for someone else.
  • Photograph or share anything you are not permitted to. Many customs and border areas restrict photography, and signage or an officer's instruction takes precedence over anything the app suggests.
  • Send us photos or text that are not relevant to the listing. Please keep submissions to what helps another crew find the desk: signage, entrances, counters, routes, and notices. Do not send anything obscene, sexual, violent, hateful, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate, anything identifying border staff or members of the public who have not agreed to it, or anything that would put us or another user at risk by publishing it.
  • Scrape, bulk-copy, or republish our listings, or use automated tools to hammer our servers.
  • Attempt to break, probe, or interfere with the service or anyone else's use of it.

We may delete any submission that breaks these rules without reviewing it further, and we may suspend or block access if someone is misusing the service. Where something submitted to us appears to be unlawful, we may report it to the relevant authorities.

Intel you send us

The app gives you two ways to help: Confirm intel, to say a listing still matches what you found on the ground, and Suggest updates, to send notes, a location, or photos when something has changed. Crews keeping each other current is what makes the directory worth having, and we are grateful for it.

A few practical points:

  • You confirm it is yours to share. Only send information and photos you created or otherwise have the right to give us, that do not breach anyone else's rights or any confidentiality obligation, and that you were permitted to capture. Many customs and border areas restrict photography, and signage or an officer's instruction always takes precedence.
  • You give us permission to use it. By sending us intel, you grant Customs Finder Ltd a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use, adapt, translate, and publish it as part of our listings, the website, and related materials. You keep ownership of everything you send.
  • We may edit or decline it. We review submissions and may correct, condense, combine them with other reports, or simply not use them. A confirmation or a suggestion is not a promise that we will change a listing.

Being credited

Both forms let you optionally add a name and a link. If you fill these in, you are asking us to publish them in the Contributors section of that listing, and you are giving us permission to do so. Please keep this in mind:

  • Both fields are optional. Leave them blank and your contribution stays anonymous.
  • Use your own name, or a name and link you are entitled to use. Do not put your employer, a production, or a third party's name or website there unless you have their agreement, because a credit on a public listing reads as an association with us.
  • Links must go somewhere reasonable and relevant, such as your professional profile or your company. We may remove or decline a credit or link at any time, for any reason, and you can ask us to remove yours by emailing hello@customsfinder.com.
  • A credit is a thank-you, not a payment, an endorsement, or a partnership, and it does not give you rights over the listing.

Your email address, if you provide one, is only ever used to follow up on your submission and is never published. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle everything you send.

Sponsors

Customs Finder is free to use and funded by sponsors rather than ad networks. Sponsor banners, offers, and listings are paid placements. They are advertising, not a recommendation or endorsement, and we do not vet or guarantee the services sponsors provide.

If you tap through to a sponsor, or to any other third-party website or service linked from the app, you are dealing with them directly on their terms, and their own terms and privacy practices apply. Any dealings or disputes between you and a sponsor are between the two of you.

Our content and yours

The Customs Finder name, logo, app, website, listing text, and the way listings are compiled and presented are owned by Customs Finder Ltd or used under licence, and are protected by copyright and other rights.

You are welcome to use Customs Finder for your own work, including on behalf of a production or employer, and to share a listing with colleagues. You may not republish our listings as a directory of your own, sell access to them, or use our name or branding in a way that suggests we endorse you.

App stores

If you downloaded Customs Finder from the App Store or Google Play, that store's own terms apply to the download alongside these terms.

On iOS, your licence to use the app is Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement . We have not written a custom one. Under that agreement Apple is not a party to these terms, is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support, so any questions or problems come to us at hello@customsfinder.com. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

On Android, the Google Play Terms of Service govern your use of the store. Google is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility or liability for the app.

You also confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Availability

We aim to keep the app and website working, but this is a small operation. We may change, suspend, update, or withdraw any part of the service, including individual listings, at any time and without notice. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable if it is unavailable when you need it.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are using Customs Finder as a consumer, you keep all the statutory rights the law gives you, and these terms do not affect them.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We provide Customs Finder free of charge and "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on a listing or any other information in the app or on the website, including customs fines, penalties, duties, storage or demurrage charges, seizure or detention of equipment, missed flights or sailings, rebooking or rerouting costs, production delays, lost income, or damage to reputation.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss of any kind.
  • Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims connected with your use of Customs Finder is limited to £10.

If you are using Customs Finder for business purposes, you accept that this allocation of risk is reasonable given that the service is provided free of charge, and that responsibility for verifying customs arrangements sits with you, your production, and your agent.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, note what changed. The current version will always be available at customsfinder.com/terms. Continuing to use Customs Finder after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your local law and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
